School Board Minutes
April 10, 2006
There was a regular meeting of the West Fork school board on Monday, April 10, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the board room. Those present were Jerry Boyd, Karen Daugherity, Daryl Quinton, Deborah Harnish and Tim Helder.
I. The meeting was called to order by president Jerry Boyd.
II. Pledge of Allegiance and prayer were led by Dr. Joey Walters.
III. Motion by Daryl Quinton second Karen Daugherity to approve the minutes of the March regular and special meetings. Motion carried. (5-0)
IV. The board reviewed the financial statement.
V. Motion by Karen Daugherity second Tim Helder to hire Diane Barrett as Superintendent per salary schedule for a three year contract. Motion carried. (5-0)
VI. Motion by Deborah Harnish second Daryl Quinton to hire Debbie Reed as special ed aide. Motion carried. (5-0)
VII. Motion by Karen Daugherity second Tim Helder to approve the attached Technology Plan. Motion carried. (5-0)
VIII. Carl Clements reviewed the Technology Use Policy. No action taken at this time.
IX. The Board went into executive session.
X. The Board went back into regular session.
XI. Motion by Daryl Quinton second Deborah Harnish to hire certified staff for 2006-07. Motion carried. See attached list.
XII. Motion by Karen Daugherity second Tim Helder to approve elementary school math textbook by Saxon. Motion carried. (5-0)
XIII. Motion by Tim Helder second Deborah Harnish to approve middle school math textbooks Harcourt for the 5th grade and Glencoe for 6th, 7th & 8th. Motion carried. (5-0)
XIV. Motion by Tim Helder second Daryl Quinton to accept the resignation of Mary Ann Kahmann as middle school Career Orientation teacher. Motion carried. (5-0) The board recognized her 31 years of teaching and expressed appreciation.
XV. Motion by Deborah Harnish second Daryl Quinton to accept the resignation of Selina Hinkle as special ed aide. Motion carried. (5-0)
XVI. Motion by Tim Helder second Deborah Harnish to accept the resignation of Liz Doss a special ed aide. Motion carried. (5-0)
XVII. Motion by Daryl Quinton second Karen Daugherity to hire Katie Dillon as full time high school math teacher effective April 10, 2006. Motion carried. (5-0)
XVIII. The school board in-service was changed to Monday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m. to coincide with the reception for Diane Barrett which will be held from 3:30-4:30 in the home-ec room.
XIX. The bid openings for the Immediate Repair Program have been postponed.
XX. Mr. Skelton shared information on Project Achieve (PBSS/SPRINT) at the middle school. See attached.
XXI. Dr. Walters discussed the Special Legislative session.
XXII. Dr. Walters handed out School Board Association Surveys which the board filled out.
XXIII. Motion by Tim Helder second Karen Daugherity to adjourn. Motion carried. (5-0)
