Mr. John Karnes is serving his fifth year as Principal of West Fork High School. This year will be his 21st year in education.

Mr. Karnes is a graduate of Springdale High School’s Class of 1981. Upon graduating, he attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, where he played football and studied science. In 1986, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science. Mr. Karnes  studied one more year to obtain his teaching license and coaching endorsement finishing up at Tech in 1987.  

Mr. Karnes served as a science teacher/football coach for his first 15 years in education. He has worked in the Russellville School District, the Prairie Grove School District, the Harrison School District, the Dover School District, and most recently, the Greenland School District.

Mr. Karnes received his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in May 2002.  He is currently working on his Educational Specialist’s Degree from Harding University, which should be completed by December of this year...  

Mr. Karnes enjoys spending quality time with his kids, watching football, working in his yard, and playing golf (though he seldom gets the chance). He has four children: Breanna - age 16, Taylor – age 14, Olivia – age 10, and Chloe – age 4.
