Employee Computer Use Agreement
1. Security
a. All employees must take care to safeguard all known user names and passwords. This information must not be shared with anyone, including students and other staff members.
b. To ensure security and prevent unauthorized access to account privileges, users must log off the network any time they cannot monitor the use of their machine.
2. Software
a. All software must be pre-approved by technology staff before it can be installed. This includes downloadable programs from the internet.
b. Some software is strictly forbidden. Examples: internet file sharing, screensavers, and instant messaging. The technology staff has the right to remove any software from district owned equipment that degrades the performance of the equipment or network.
c. Only software that is legally owned by the district may be installed on district computer hardware.
3. Hardware
a. No hardware, including cables or peripherals, may be moved without authorization from technology staff.
b. All purchasing must be approved by the building principal and technology staff.
4. Personal Computers and Other Electronic Devices
a. Laptops and other computers purchased with personal funds are allowed but must be approved by technology staff and will first be screened for viruses and other malicious software. The computer must also have an active antivirus program installed and updated; the school will not provide this software.
b. Personal networking devices including but not limited to hubs, switches, and wireless access points, are not allowed to be connected to the network.
5. Behavior Standards
a. Users are expected to behave in a moral, legal, and ethical fashion that supports district educational goals.
b. Personal use of technology including email, data storage, etc. is permitted within reason and provided that it does not disrupt the educational goals or setting.
c. No user should assume that their email is private. Email is subject to FOI requests.
d. Users are not permitted to conduct a business using any school technology resource. (ebay etc.)
6. Student Interaction
a. It is the responsibility of every faculty and staff member to be familiar with and enforce the Student Computer Use Agreement and to report all infractions by students to the building principal and technology staff.
b. Every faculty and staff member will model appropriate computing practices as described in the Student Computer Use Agreement.
