West Fork Elementary PTO
Meeting Minutes 05/05/08.
The final PTO meeting of the 2007 – 2008 school year took place at the elementary school on 05/05/08 at 6pm. Several members were in attendance.
Tracy Roebke presented a sampling of gifts that are available for sale from a company trying to secure our business for our annual Christmas store. They had some nice gifts, but we all agreed that they were a bit on the pricey side. We will continue to look into our options along with the possibility of the PTO purchasing our own items for sale.
Pledge money collected from the Math-a-thon currently stands at approximately $836. We will send out a reminder to get the remaining funds turned in so we can determine the winners of the Toys-R-Us gift cards and the class that will win a pizza party.
T-shirts for the teachers and staff have been ordered and should arrive on May 9, just in time for Teacher Appreciation week. The shirts will be a gift to them from the PTO. The order has also been place for the youth T-shirts that we will offer up for sale. The price on the youth shirts will be $6.00. We will have a limited number of adult shirts for sale at $8.00 each.
We have had several people offer to bring snacks for the teachers during Teacher Appreciation week. We obtained a $25 donation from Sam’s Club that will be used to supplement the snacks. We also received a donation from Wal-Mart that will be used to purchase a gift for Annette Templemeyer. We overlooked Ms. Annette during the Administrative Professionals week and want to make sure she is recognized for all the work she does as the liaison between the PTO parents and the school. PTO is purchasing two benches as a gift to the school that the teachers and staff can use. These will be incorporated into the outdoor area for the upcoming year. Tracy will email a picture of the benches to Jess Goodwin so she can work up something showing the teachers what we will be purchasing.
PTO will do a few things on Fun Day, scheduled for May 30. The biggest thing will be to construct a maze that the kids can explore. It was decided that we could use some large boxes to create the maze and incorporate hula-hoops into the structure. Jess will get with Ms. Smith to see if we can borrow the ones from the school. Everyone needs to be on the lookout for large boxes also. We don’t have all the details worked out yet, but plans are to have some type of activity involving water balloons. Several members offered to get them filled up so we are ready to throw that morning. We will also have a booth set up to sell T-shirts.
We expect to provide cookies and juice again this year for the kindergarten graduation. Someone should be contacting Tracy with a list.
The officers for the 2008 – 2009 school year were voted in as follows:
President Jess Goodwin
Vice President Pam Peterson
Secretary Sarah Brock
Treasurer Bonnie Gerlick
Treasurer’s report shows the current account balance at $1497.53. We made a profit from our hotdog sales during Family Night. Tyson generously donated the hot dogs and we received donations from Wal-Mart and Aldi’s. We had expenses of $141.85. The total amount collected was $214.50, which gave us a profit of $72.65. The deposit of the Family Night and Math-a-thon money has not been made yet. Final treasurer’s report will be posted at the end of the school year.
Thanks to all the PTO members and volunteers that have made it another successful year for our organization. We look forward to doing even more in the upcoming year.
