Third Grade

Third grade students are off to a great start. They are working very hard learning several new math concepts, such as counting money, telling time, place value, addition and subtraction, number work, and estimation, through Cognitively Guided Instruction.

We are starting our guided reading groups.  Your child will be learning reading concepts in a small group setting, and then in individual practice.

We are also learning spelling concepts, using our Word Journeys study.  And we are writing everyday!! This is very important in teaching the different styles of writing which will help on the Benchmark Test we will take in the spring.

Once again, we want to stress how important it is that you read to your child and that your child reads to you. Good reading skills are an essential factor in a child’s academic success. We want to help develop a love for reading that will last your child a lifetime
