FIVE YEAR STRATEGIC PLANNING FOCUS

Note: The order of the following in no way denotes any measure of importance.
I. The West Fork School Board will work to insure that all facilities are adequate to
provide equal educational opportunities for the students of the district. Needs that
may be addressed in coming years are:
(1) Potentially may need to purchase additional land
(2) Completion of High School
(3) Brick Agri Building
(4) Develop existing school owned property
(5) Continue to upgrade playground
(6) Track
(7) Technology Center (writing, math)
(8) Football Field House
(9) Air Condition Gym and Activity Center
(10) Auxiliary gym/Auditorium
(11) Elementary cafeteria
(12) High School Cafeteria
(13) Paving Parking Lots
II. The school schedule, both yearly and daily, will be evaluated as to educational effectiveness and changes may be made to insure that the best practice is utilized.
III. The school district will continue to expand and broaden its curriculum to insure that students have opportunities to learn that will prepare them for the 21st century.
Citizenship skills and transition from school to work will be emphasized. Problem solving and critical thinking skills will be taught. Course work will be geared to job needs of area.
Students will be trained in the use of technology. Faculty and staff will have sufficient staff development opportunities to maintain an effective instructional program.
- Training sessions for college entrance exams
- Adult classes
- Organized tutoring
- Mentoring program
- Summer school (High School students needing additional credits)
IV. The school district will review and improve the teacher evaluation system.
V. The school district will continue to seek improvement in reading, math and science.
VI. Personnel needs would include:
(1) Improve program for attracting, hiring, and retaining staff (develop day-care program
for children of school staff).
(2) Improve pay schedule to achieve competitiveness in geographic region.
VII. The district will work to ensure a safe and drug free environment.
VIII. The district will work to comply with the No Child Left Behind program and ACTAAP.
OBJECTIVES
· Every child will enter kindergarten prepared to learn.
· 100% of our students will meet or exceed district standards in the core curriculum.
· 100% of our students will graduate.
PARAMETERS
· We will always operate safe environments conductive to learning.
· The teaching staff will be consulted when making decisions regarding curriculum and instruction.
· New programs and services will only be considered if they are consistent with the district goals and objectives.
· No existing program or service will be retained unless benefits justify cost and it contributes to progress toward our mission.
· We will always operate on the principle of children first.
STRATEGIES
· Strategy 1: We will align our curriculum, instructional materials, standards of performance and means of assessment.
· Strategy 2: We will ensure all staff are utilizing best instructional practices and are differentiating instruction to achieve the district’s mission and objectives.
· Strategy 3: We will integrate, fund, support, and provide access to technology throughout our district in order to accomplish our mission and objectives.
· Strategy 4: We will determine the grade level configuration within the district and make facility improvement necessary to best achieve our mission and objectives.
· Strategy 5: We will develop and implement plans to improve perceptions of our schools by community members and to expand community involvement in support of our mission and objectives.
· Strategy 6: We will critically analyze our current programs and prioritize them to determine those which best help us achieve our mission and objectives.
· Strategy 7: We will work in partnership with our community to ensure that all children enter kindergarten ready to learn.
